Important: changes to the swimming pool timetable

From Monday 2 June to Sunday 29 June, the main pool will be closed for cleaning and for repairs to the changing rooms. During this period, the small learner pool will stay open, but only for swimming lessons and parent-and-baby sessions.

Members who usually swim in the early morning can use our partner centre, Northbridge Pool, at no extra cost. Simply show your Greenway membership card at the Northbridge reception. Northbridge is a ten-minute walk from the Central bus station and is open from 6.30 am to 10 pm every day.

All other facilities, including the gym, the sauna and the fitness studios, will open as normal. However, the café will close one hour earlier than usual, at 7 pm, because we expect fewer visitors. Swimming lessons for children will continue at the usual times.

Members who cannot get to Northbridge may freeze their membership for June. You will not pay for that month, and your membership will start again automatically on 1 July. To do this, please fill in a form at reception before 25 May.

We are sorry for any inconvenience. The new changing rooms will have more showers, larger lockers and step-free access.

Part-time weekend assistant wanted at Bayside Bookshop

Bayside Bookshop, a busy independent bookshop in the town centre, is looking for a friendly weekend assistant. The job is for Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 5 pm, and the pay is £12.50 per hour.

Duties include serving customers, unpacking deliveries and helping at our monthly children's reading events. Experience in a shop is useful but not necessary, as full training will be given. You must love books and enjoy talking to customers. Some lifting of heavy boxes is required.

Dear Mr Hughes,

I am writing to apply for the position of weekend assistant, which I saw advertised in your shop window. I am a second-year history student at Bayside College, and I am free every weekend during term time.

I have never worked in a bookshop, but last summer I worked in a café, so I am used to serving customers and working quickly when it is busy. I read at least two novels a month, and I would especially enjoy helping with the children's events, as I often look after my younger cousins.

I am available for an interview on any weekday afternoon. Could you also tell me whether the job would continue during the summer holidays?
